How To Install The Shower Arm Series

Installing a product from the shower arm series can be a simple do-it-yourself task. All you need to do is unscrew the old shower arm and screw in the new one. This task takes approximately 30 minutes to complete.

The Tools And Materials You'll Need Include:

- lime scale remover
- vinegar
- adjustable pipe wrench
- metal lubricant
- the new shower arm
- rubber gloves
- Teflon tape
- vice grips

Ensure that you have all the equipment and tools that you will need before you start the procedure. This will ensure that you do not leave the bathroom in the middle of the task to go look for another tool or equipment you forgot to bring to the bathroom. Doing this will also save time.

Here are the guidelines you need to follow to install your new shower arm in your bathroom:

Step 1: Turn Off The Water Flow To The Bathroom

Ensure that you turn off the water supply to the shower at the valve, if there is any. You can turn off the water flow at the main valve if you have one and you think it is necessary to do so. This ensures that water does not spray all around the bathroom and splash onto the entire house when the old shower arm is removed.

Step 2: Remove The Shower Head

Using the vice grip, hold the shower arm and place the adjustable pipe wrench around the nut that joins the shower head and shower arm. Remove the shower head nut by turning the wrench counter clockwise. Then separate the shower head from the shower arm. If the shower head and shower arm are stuck together, use the vinegar to rinse onto the shower head. The lime scale remover can also help. Doing this will make the separation easier.

Step 3: Remove The Shower Arm

Use the vice grip to firmly hold the old shower arm, and then turn it to make it loose. A long adjustable pipe wrench can be used to give a more stable leverage. Some shower arms get stuck and may become difficult to remove. In such cases, you can use a metal lubricant to lubricate it and make it easier to remove.

Step 4: Install The New Shower Arm

Check the dimensions of the new shower arm and ensure that you have the correct size in relation to your shower head. Wind about three layers of Teflon tape around the end of the new arm. This end goes into the wall pipe. Connect the shower arm directly to the wall pipe and secure it tightly.

Step 5: Attach The Shower Head

Wind Teflon tape to the other end of the shower arm and attach the shower head. Ensure that the head is tightly secured to the arm.

Step 6: Test It

Turn on the water supply to the bathroom, and then turn on the shower. Check for any leakages at the head and arm connections. If you notice any leaks, tighten the shower head and arm more until the leak disappears.

These steps are a clear and precise way of replacing you shower arm. Following these steps will give you satisfying results at the end of the task.
