People are more aware of their physical appearance. As much as orthodontics has brought about a series of clear, plastic braces; they are not as invisible as everyone would wish for them to be. Lingual braces, however, are a type of braces placed behind the teeth thus reducing their visibility even further.
People of various age groups now opt to go for this kind of brace, and it is also suitable for all ages. The fact that you can correct your dental appearance and smile without being self-conscious every day makes invisible braces a perfect choice.
Advantages Of Using Invisible Braces
There is usually no need to remove these braces at any given time, unlike other brace types. It makes treatment more efficient and fast. The patient will not interfere with the doctor's plan of treatment and the pressure applied to the teeth will be uniform throughout the treatment leading to best results in the long run.
Anyone can wear this type of braces regardless of their age. This is because being at the back of the teeth it interferes in no way with your personal appearance and will therefore not enhance or cause a defect in any way aesthetically speaking.
Some people find it very difficult to maintain good oral hygiene. In this case, discoloration may occur. However, this or any form of problem that may occur for the same reason will be known only to the patient but invisible to others.
Like many modern forms of braces, these braces are made specially to fit a specific user. This customization makes the braces even better, and treatment more sure and precise as the whole treatment is charted and the final result is predicted even before the treatment begins.
Invisible braces come with an extended base that ensures the customer does not experience any discomfort whatsoever. The patients also do not suffer difficulties in speech. The base also makes the bonding strength of this particular type of braces have the greatest bonding strength relatively. This is according to the European journal of orthodontics for the year 2011.
According to the Australian Dental Association, these types of braces are good enough to treat any dental faults. They also don't bring about problems of allergic reactions because usually they are made of gold and nickel.
How They Are Placed
The dentist will first take impressions of your teeth using 3D x-rays. This is to get a precise condition and position of your dental form since the braces are custom made.
Fabrication of the invisible braces hardware is done. The orthodontic brackets are then put on a tray called an applicator and then sent back to the dentist's office. This tray is used to hold the wires and arch wires in proper alignment when the braces are fixed.
The patient then goes to get the braces fixed. It usually happens after a whole month in order to give time for the treatment plan to be made and the braces to be created too. After the fixing of the brace wires and arch wires behind the teeth, the applicator tray is then removed.
