I love a big shawl that can be worn lots of different ways. They can be scarf like, or almost like a blanket, and they’re a super simple way to jazz up a plain outfit.
The Cosmos Textured Knit Wrap from Mama in a Stitch is a big rectangle with simple stitch patterns to add interest to the knitting and the wearing, but it’s still easy enough for a new knitter to handle. It uses Garter and Stockinette stitches, as well as Moss Stitch and drop stitches.
You can also customize the size if you don’t want something quite as big. While it’s pretty in a solid color this would also be a fun stash buster or color blocked pattern. Maybe change colors every time you change patterns?
